Taking influences from the likes of Hot Since 82, Friend Within, Wilfred Giroux, Chris Greswell and Karma Kid, MORRT has developed his own style for the dance floor which has seen him get booked from Croatia (Soundwave Festival) to Coventry (City Sound Project). His best known remix to date is (last week’s headliner) Applebottom’s Someone, which now has well over 200,000 plays on Soundcloud, and prompting support from the artist himself. Now one year on, MORRT has fused 90s House with nostalgic samples and remixed tracks by MNEK, Route 94 and CeCe Penistone. Inspired to make music after he was assaulted and left with a broken jaw, the young producer bought his first piece of equipment last year from compensation money. MORRT aka Josh Mortimer, a 20 year old from Derby, had only been producing for a few months before his soulful ambient track ‘Let You Go’ was discovered by BBC Radio 1’s B Traits.
